My New Hammock

I finally got a new hammock, Allison purchased one last year as a gift. It was the Cape Hatteras style hammock with a stand. I didn't bring the hammock inside as many times as I should and so this year when I put it outside a hole appeared after an unnamed overweight dad got on it, hmm wonder who that could be. Joking aside the hole was fun for about a week and so the entire summer there was no hammock. Given the 25+ straight days of plus 90 degree weather (mostly around 98-102) and no rain not having the hammock wasn't so bad.

The Festival in the Park comes each year in early September and Eagles Nest Outfitters (ENO) was there with hammocks made out of parachute material. I bought one and LOVE it.

Visitors

My Aunt Jane, Cousin Lisa and her two boys Alex and Taylor came for a visit. The kids love playing with them and they are wonderful with Sophia and Zach! Can't wait for them to come see us again!

Here's a new picture of Seth!

Gentle reminder of what is important

These past 2 days I have been helping review content for an upcoming technical resource for work. I received requests from 2 other authors for their chapters which was not expected. Last night we had a dinner at church, it was a combination of appreciation for the Sunday School teachers and a bit of a kick-off for our new study Yahweh - Divine Encounters in the Old Testament from Life Bible Study.

I thought I had the weekend to review the chapter content, turns out the author has the weekend to work through my comments, so I had until Friday night. I followed up with one author and mentioned it and he said the weekend would be ok, whew breathing room. But with dinner at church last night from 7-9, that just reduced my available time and as this is a kick-off I have to return on Saturday from 8:30 to about 4:00 for an Old Testament session with the Walk Thru the Bible team. Oh and Saturday night we are heading out to spend time with Allison's brother and visiting Aunt and cousins. Sunday - with church and naps likely and possibly some athletic event with the guys in the class, my available time is dwindling away.

So the kids are in childcare, including Seth which is actually the first time a non-family member has watched him for us and we get home at about 9:30 and put the kids to bed. Somehow kids don't know its late unless it is really late so about 10:00 they are down, Seth is fed and Allison is asleep. Did I mention that I am not a late night person? Well Seth didn't go to sleep so he and I stayed up until 12:30 together while I reviewed this material. Should his name go in the credits to?

So to the purpose of the post - as much as doing this work may be impressive or important, Seth was amused and smiled when I looked at him and spoke to him and made those silly sounds with my mouth. He had no context to how much money we had, how many toys we had, if I was good at my job, simply he was only concerned with the attention I gave him.
